Our History

Life Choices is a 501(c)(3) charitable, non-profit organization, serving the Front Range Colorado region, funded primarily by the generosity of compassionate and concerned individuals, businesses, and churches in their communities.

After the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973, as abortion rates continued to climb, a steering committee was formed to accomplish setting up a pregnancy center in Longmont, CO, to help aid women and men with unplanned pregnancies and provide alternatives to abortion.

On December 21, 1984, Life Choices Pregnancy Center, then called Longmont Crisis Pregnancy Center, was officially filed as a nonprofit organization. Eventually operating out of the basement at 20 Mountain Ave, Life Choices was primarily staffed by volunteers who compassionately provided advocacy, community referrals, and material needs. But demand was increasing and services were expanding.

Due to rising teen pregnancy and sexuality transmitted infection (STI) rates, the Education Department was born. Life Choices Education Department began equipping middle and high school students for healthy sexual and relationship choices – encouraging optimal health outcomes for youth. The Education Department has continued to provide biblically-sound, medically-accurate education in private and public school settings.

The Healing Choices program launched to support post-abortion women and men struggling with guilt, shame, depression, and other issues associated with that decision. Statistics estimate that close to 43% (1 out of 3) women of childbearing age have experienced an abortion. This ministry continues to see those wrestling with guilt and shame finally experience hope and healing.

In response to continued growth and great need for increased facilities, Life Choices began operating out of the entire building (not just the basement) at 20 Mountain View Avenue in Longmont, CO. In addition, they expanded to provide services from a second location in Loveland, CO, at 902 Rosewood Drive.

Medical services were added, and Life Choices brought on their first paid medical director to oversee all medical operations and medical staff training – consequently providing professional medical services for clients, including pregnancy testing and limited ultrasound imaging. As the need for more ultrasounds continued, additional staff and volunteer nurses went through training to help keep up the pace.

On June 24, 2022, the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the legislation that made access to abortion a federal right in the US. At 3am on June 25th, the Longmont Life Choices was fire-bombed by a radical, pro-choice abortion feminist group causing extensive damage to the building. Due to the extensive damage, a temporary location was found, and they continued serving clients while waiting to move back into the Mountain View Avenue location.

The churches and community rallied around Life Choices, and the outpouring of love and support was tremendous. In October of 2023, Life Choices returned to their renovated building in Longmont.

From humble beginnings, Life Choices Pregnancy Center provides expert medical care: pregnancy testing, dipstick urinalysis, limited ultrasound imaging, and accurate health information on pregnancy, abortion pill reversal, abortion risks (surgical and medical), contraceptives, sexual health issues, and more. We provide education, support, and healing through their advocacy services, Education Department, and Healing Choices programs – and we operate out of two locations serving Longmont, Loveland, and surrounding communities.

In 2024, Life Choices celebrates forty years in operation and has grown in staff, programs, volunteers, community support, and educational opportunities. Thousands of women, men, and families have trusted Life Choices to provide understanding and expert care. Countless lives have been impacted to the glory of God.
