“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence and recognize and honor and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 Amplified Bible
The book of Matthew tells us that Three Kings, known as the Magi, went to seek and worship the newborn King, Jesus. They followed a star that gave a light in the sky to point them to his dwelling place. Like the Magi, God uses each of us as a light; he calls us “the light of the world.” Because you are here to bring light to the world, others see it; it shines in the darkness, saving innocent lives like Lucious. Your light shone on a struggling mom who walked through our door.
She did not enter by happenstance; the Lord ordered her footsteps.
Jenny was a young woman struggling with addiction and found herself pregnant again; she already had two abortions. Lost, trapped in a cycle from which she felt there was no escape, she planned on aborting baby number three. Jenny’s sister, Maranda, became her guiding light and urged her to visit Life Choices Pregnancy Center. Maranda and her husband, Bryan, were praying for a child and faced challenges in becoming pregnant. Maranda wondered why God had not answered her prayers. God had other plans for Maranda and Bryan.
Jenny came in for the ultrasound to appease her sister, and after seeing the ultrasound picture and her baby’s heartbeat, she chose life for her son. Lucious was born on January 1, 2019. Tragically, despite Jenny’s love for Lucious, the struggle of addiction took its toll and she passed away, but not without leaving a legacy of love. Maranda now understood that God had answered her prayer, but not how she had supposed. She and her husband took on the role of raising Lucious as their own.
Lucious is celebrating his fifth Christmas season and is surrounded by the love and warmth of his mom and dad as he is adopted into the family. Lucious loves the “village” of his extended family called New Freedom Outreach Church. They are his world, and they love him very much. Maranda says, “he’s kind and creative and so smart at his young age. He loves to serve whenever he can and be a helping hand. He has the heart of God.”
Lucious is full of energy and life and is a reminder of the impact you make. Every ultrasound, every visit, every prayer prayed over our clients, and every word of truth and compassion spoken into their lives is a reflection of you. And like our Savior, The Light of the world who came to seek and save the lost, bring hope to the hopeless, and light to those living in darkness, you bring your light and love to the women, men, and their families that walk through our doors.
